Science College, Kokrajhar was established in the year 1995 and situated at Bhatarmari area of Kokrajhar Town. The College is affiliated under Bodoland University and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, Govt of India u/s 2f and 12B of UGC Act 1956. (No. F. 8-381/2005(PPP-I) Visit www.ugc.ac.in) and recognized & provincialized by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Assam. The College was also accredited by NAAC “B” Grade with CGPA 2.07 (2nd Cycle).
The College was started with the active cooperation and selfless dedication of the people of this locality by 17 Numbers of students in Higher Secondary Science section at the temporary venue of Rastrabhasha Vidyapeeth School, Kokrajhar in morning shift. On 26th July 1996, Mr. Rajendra Kumar Mushahary, the then State Minister WPT & BC, Assam first laid the foundation stone of the College Building. The Degree (B.Sc.) Courses were started in the year 1999.
The institution extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee, Mr. Phanindra Narayan Ray, Mr. Rukendra Nath Brahma, Late Kamal Kumar Brahma, and Dr. Ramananda Sinha, the former and founder Principal of Science College for their relentless efforts to build up the College. Since its inception, the College has grown in leaps and bounds and has created an atmosphere in Science Education.
In just a span of 30 years of glorious existence, the college has grown up as an Institute of significance for the students of the entire Bodoland Territorial Region as well as the other parts of Assam. As a co-educational institute, the college has nine departments viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Physiotherapy and Languages.
